Align the Mind's Eye and the Body to Expand Learning Dimensions
Create a Standard Point of Reference
In The Learning to Read Program, this point of reference is called “The Integration Point” or the “Star.” We use the name Star because it is concrete and therefore easier for young children to relate to and imagine.
The MELT™ Techniques were developed to assist in the process of aligning the body and positioning the mind’s eye at the Star (the Integration Point). This alignment enables the dyslexic to manage and stabilize his natural and unconscious tendency to move about the viewing circle when reading or writing.

MELT™ Away Learning Problems
Once the mind’s eye can be directed to a standard point of reference, the mind and body become integrated. By using the MELT™ technique of Character Command the dyslexic can then accurately interpret all abstract characters and stumble words. To the degree that the dyslexic can manage his natural and unconscious tendency to shift the position of his mind’s eye to bring meaning to a written character or word, his threshold for tolerating the stress of sensory confusion increases, and his ability to read, think and write improves.
MELT™ Techniques
“Integration and Posture,” “Tune In & Turn On,” “Character Command,” and “Reading, Rhythm and Punctuation” are MELT™ Techniques used in The Learning to Read Program to rectify the misperceptions and learning disabilities that are associated with dyslexia.
The process of “Integration and Posture” centers and adjusts perception.
The “Tune In & Turn On” exercises reduce stress, and rebalance and re-integrate mind and body.
The process of “Character Command” heals the dyslexic’s core trigger, his lack of understanding how to read and write stumble words.
Once these skills are developed, the student is prepared to work with the MELT™ techniques of "Reading, Rhythm and Punctuation" to learn to stop and pause at punctuation marks in order to gain understanding of what is being read.
