Who is a Traditional Early Learner?

The traditional early learner (refered to here as the early learner) is a child who is mentally mature for his age (5-7) and is eager to learn to read.  He usually is a very verbal child with a good vocabulary, and he seemingly has a good grasp of mature concepts and ideas.  He may be "gifted" in many areas of his life and he may seem to learn rapidly.

The Early Learner is Usually Identified by these Traits:

  • Wants to be read to a lot
  • Interested in big brother's/sister's books
  • Verbally and mentally mature for his age
  • Multi-sensory thinker who is good at problem solving
  • Seems smart for his age
  • Good vocabulary
  • Grro graps of the nature of concepts and ideas presented to him
  • Gifted and seems to learn very rapidly
  • Very eager to learn to read and write
