The MELT Learning Solution
The MELT™ instructional articles are available in the LD Coach webstore.
MELT is an acronym for the mind’s eye learning techniques that underlie the success of The Learning to Read Program. The MELT™ techniques are ground-breaking technology that enables the multi-sensory learner to use his senses of touch, sight and sound in order to learn to read. Seldom is this style of learning taught in schools and the learner who depends on his sensory input for recognition tends to become confused, frustrated and unsuccessful with his school lessons.

What is MELT™?
MELT™ is four unique techniques that teach the child to stabilize his mind's eye so that he can reliably perceive what he sees and reads. They teach how to character command the 290 written characters and stumble words, and then how to stop and pause at punctuation marks so that the child can read with comprehension. They enable a child to:
- Learn to read fluently with comprehension.
- Eliminate confusion associated with reading.
- Improve self-esteem and the ability to learn.
- Optimize learning while using the 13 volume series of The Learning to Read Program.

The MELT™ techniques teach the multi-sensory learner how to stabilize his perception of his senses (with his mind’s eye) and to successfully visualize while reading.
With this technology, the 2-dimensional letters, punctuation marks and 270 sight (abstract) words to experience can be easily learned.
Improved Reading and Spelling Skills
The primary focus of the MELT™ techniques is the improved development of reading and spelling skills of children from 5 to 10 years of age. The program is also suited to assisting the learner of English as a second language, as well as the teenage learner and the adult learner who want to learn to read.

“What Causes the Learning Problems of Dyslexia?” Learn how a student’s perceptual confusion produces the reading mis-behaviors of hesitation, an inserted word, an omitted word, a skipped word, a replaced word, a skipped line, or the lack of comprehension while reading. These behaviors disappear when command is gained of the upper and lower case letters, punctuation marks, and the 270 stumble words responsible for the child’s confusion.
